Thiruvananthapuram: The country recorded 17,481 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday while the level of testicitivity test (TPR) reached 11.97%.
Now, more than 30% of active cases in this country are in Kerala.
However, this is also partly due to increased testing in the state.
Kerala, on average, has done around 3,800 tests plus per day for a temporary population while the appropriate number for Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is 1,600-1,700.
Kerala, which has been in the plateau phase during the second wave, has seen a surge in the case since July the second week.
The last time everyday case in the country had crossed the 17,000 mark was on June 5, noting 17,328 cases.
While the rest of India has seen a decline in new cases, Kerala has reported the highest number of new positive cases, followed by Maharashtra.
Instead, neighbors Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have reported less than 2,000 new cases every day.
Even Covid’s death remains a concern.
Kerala now has the second highest number of Covid deaths after Maharashtra.
According to health authorities, 105 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking official deaths in the 17th state.

The wise assignment of the district of Covid’s positive cases for today is as follows: Malappuram (2,318), Ernakulam (2,270), Kozhikode (2,151), Thrissur (1,983), Palakkad (1,394), Kollam (1,166), Thiruvananthapuram (1,166) , Kottayam (996), Alappuzha (969), Kannur (777), Kasaragod (976), Pathanamthitta (584), Wayanad (475) and Idukki (447).
As many as 1,45,993 samples were tested in the last 24 hours while a total of 2.57,18,672 samples were tested so far.
Among those tested positive for disease on Wednesday, 86 came from outside the country.
While 16,600 has been infected through contact, the source of infection 698 people is unknown.
Among those who tested positively, there were 97 health workers.
The number of health workers in each district reported positive for the virus as follows: Kannur (21), Palakkad (13), Thrissur (12), Kasaragod (9), Kollamthitta (7), Ernakulam & Wayanad (respectively), Kottayam ( 5), Thiruvananthapuram & Alappuzha (3 each), Kozhikode (2) and Idukki and Malappuram (respectively).
A total of 14,131 recovery was recorded on Wednesday while Amny as 2,401 people were hospitalized with Covid symptoms.
