On the night of Eid al-Fitr, Kerala posted a count of one highest day of Covid-19 cases in 45 days and the numbers in the northeast jumped again when India’s calculation returned to nearly 40,000 on Tuesday, the day after the country reported at least a daily case since 16 March.
Maharashtra added 3,509 older deaths to the whole victim as part of the ongoing data reconciliation process.
This is the second highest number of “backlog” fatality announced in one day with any state, after 3,951 deaths stated by Bihar last month.

Fresh cases in the state rose to 16,848, the highest daily reported since June 5, when the calculation was 17,328.
In the northeast, new cases jumped to the highest of all time 806 in Mizoram while Manipur recorded 1,127, in short the highest number of countries from 1,171 reported Saturday.
The numbers are also high in Arunachal (508), Meghalaya (500) and Tripura (488).
