Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Tuesday sees a sharp increase in the case of fresh Covid-19 with the country that reported 9,066 new infections that raised kaselity to 52.91.280.
The state also reported 296 deaths that took total deaths in the upper state of 50,000 numbers to 50,053, according to the government’s release.
From death, 19 was recorded over the past few days and 277 were designated as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court.
With 2,064 more people recovered from viruses since Monday, the total recovery reached 52.05.210.
However, because the number of recovery is far less than the new Covid-19 case, the active case in the country rose to 44,441, the release said.
A total of 63,898 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest with 2,200 new cases followed by Ernakulam (1,478), Thrissur (943) and Kozhikode (801).
From new cases, 113 were health workers, 127 from outside the country and 8,198 were infected through contact with the source unclear at 628, the release said.
At present there are 1,27,790 people under supervision in various districts, including 1,24,903 in the quarantine of a house or institutional and 2,887 in the hospital, the broadcast said.
