Thiruvananthapuram: Some parts of Kerala continue to receive heavy rain on Thursday because the weather issued a ‘orange warning’ for the six North Regency which showed heavy rain there.
According to the latest updates from the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), The Orange Alert was issued for the Palakkad district, Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kasaragod and was alert to Yellow for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur.
It is also said that the southern state is expected to accept expanding rainfall over the next three days starting today under the influence of low pressure areas, formed in the Arabian sea outside Lakshadweep.
“Low pressure areas have formed above the east center and are adjacent in the Southeast Arabian sea from Lakshadweep.
It’s likely to move to the southeast as a low pressure area towards Kerala Beach for the next 48 hours,” said IMD.
Under the influence of the rainfall above, it is spread heavily isolated until very heavy rainfall is expected to be more than Kerala for October 14-16, he added.
Meanwhile, the four window leaves of the Neyyar Dam here, which are managed by the State Irrigation Department, will be raised with a total of 160 cm in the afternoon because the capital city receives a widespread rainfall, the authorities said here.
They have been raised with a total of 120 cm (30 cm respectively), the district collector said here in a statement on Thursday.
