Kerala: Covid case rises between the police

Thiruvananthapuram: With the overall Covid-19 case on the increase, the number of cases among police officers also began to increase sharply.
A total of 836 active cases have been reported on Tuesday, while 666 on Monday.
The highest number of active cases among the police has been reported from the City Police of Thiruvananthapuram (148) and Rural Thiruvananthapuram (45) while the city of Thrissur (4) and Kollam City (5) are at the bottom of the chart.
With an increasing number of exponentially, the top brass police once again began to ensure that vaccination drives for the booster dose were completed, and police officials obeyed the Covid-19 guidelines.
“We aim at 100% vaccination for the police.
Managing Booster’s shot has also begun and is accelerated.
All police officials have been asked to strictly adhere to the Covid safety protocol,” said DGP (Battalion of Armed Police) K Padmakumar, who is also a Covid-19 monitoring officer for the police.
Among the six armed police battalions, the highest number of active cases were reported from special armed police battalions in Peroorkada in the capital with 30 active cases on Tuesday.
While only one case reported at Kerala Armed Police Battalion-6 in Nilambur, three cases were reported among members of the female police battalion in the capital.
Apart from the number of police affected by Covid has surged in the past week, only one police officer reportedly being hospitalized.
In 2020, 7,321 police were influenced by Covid, the seven surrendered to the virus.
In 2021, 15,332 police were influenced by viruses and 12 loss of their lives.
State police have actively suppressed for enforcement activities related to Covid-19 along with the Ministry of Health officials.
After the early days of locking when the police were declared to ensure locking, they were given cluster assignments and detention management tasks.
The police were given more responsibility after finding that the majority of those affected by the end of July came from the main contact outside their families.
However, the decision was modified later when the number of Covid cases among police officers increased.
The police then decided that no officials over 50 years must be made on the field assignments related to Covid.
The National Police Chief ordered that even if police personnel under 50 years old, they should not be placed on field assignments if they have comorbidities.
The police have then taken more precautions, including familiarizing all field duty, in the health protocol.
Officials, along with their family members were asked to follow all health protocols, both on duty.
