Thiruvananthapuram: A 40-year-old man died on Tuesday after he sank on the river while giving his toddler swimming lessons.
The deceased has been identified as the Sasi Devatheertham House, Parappil in Kallara Village.
He is a government employee, working as a villager in Pul City Village office.
The police said that the incident occurred around 6pm at Chellanchy under the boundary of the Palode police station outside the city.
According to eyewitnesses, Sasi sank on the Vamanapuram River under Chellanchy Bridge.
He came in place along with his six-year-old son, Sonu, to teach him to swim.
Around 6pm, they saw Sasi struggling to stay while holding her son.
Even when he drowned into the water, he tried to hold his son high on the water.
The men who rushed to save him managed to save the child first, followed what they pulled out of the water too.
He didn’t realize when he was pulled out of the water.
Even though he was rushed to Medical Medical Hospital Thiruvananthapuram, the doctors claimed to die on arrival.
