Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala was able to face the challenges posed by Nipah and Covid-19 due to amazing efforts from the State Public Health Department, Chair of the Pinarayi Minister Vijayan said on Saturday.
He spoke in the inauguration of several projects and schemes, worth RS 25 Crore, which began or will begin soon.
He said that the health infrastructure of the state community has been valued by many countries and his work is something that can be proud of through “awesome business”, Kerala is able to deal with and handle the challenges caused by diseases such as Nipah and Covid-19.
To further strengthen health infrastructure, the government had previously decided to convert 886 primary health centers (PHC) in the state to the family health center, he said.
Until now 480 PHC has been converted to family health centers whose main features provide special care and facilities to the public at the primary level, he said.
He further said that the family health center will have more doctors, OPD facilities will be available until evening and they will have laboratories and other testing systems.
In addition to PHC, more than 1600 health centers have been converted to health and health centers, where better medical and maintenance facilities will be available to the general public, he added.
Apart from the family health center and health and health centers, schemes and other projects inaugurated include welfare schemes for pregnant tribal women, vaccine storage facilities in Ernakulam and various baby care centers in various hospitals in the state.
