Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has told that 8.87 lakh more vaccine doses have reached the country on Wednesday.
The state has received 8.86,960 more vaccine doses.
This batch consists of eight lakh covishield vaccines and 86,960 covaxin doses.
Thiruvananthapuram received 1.69,500 covishield doses, while Ernakulam and Kozhikode each received 1,96,500 and 1.34,000 vaccine doses.
Thiruvananthapuram received Covaxin 29,440 doses, while Ernakulam and Kozhikode each received 34,240 and 23,280, respectively.
Apart from this, Ernakulam also received three additional covisheild doses of lakh.
George said the government plans to ensure the first dose vaccine for people over 60 years and patients in bed before August 15.
“More than 1.25 people lakh over 60 years have been given a vaccine on Wednesday itself.
The total vaccination on Wednesday is 2.37,528,” he said.
In accordance with Kerala demographics, it is estimated that in 2021, 45.5% of people have been given the first dose, and 18.41% have received the second dose.
This means that 55.64% of them above18 have received the first dose, and 22.51% have received the second dose, he said.
He also eliminated rumors that the government had made registration at the local body level mandatory to receive Covid-19 vaccine.

People are only asked to choose a vaccine center in their respective bodies to ensure a fair distribution of the same,” Minister said.
