Kerala Govt is likely to reconsider post-covid care rates

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government tends to review the recent decision of the allegations of post-covid treatment for people who are under the APL category.
According to sources, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was not happy with the decision of the Ministry of Health which is believed to be taken without proper discussion.
On August 16, the main Secretary (health) has issued an order stating that the government introduce medical expenses for the treatment of post-command in government hospitals for those who are under the ALL category.
Orders also stated that private hospitals can fix tariffs for treatment in tariffs set by the government.
However, this was not well received by the members of the opposition and there was severe criticism about the sudden decision to fix the cost of care for people in the APL category.
Dipupetahui that the Principal Secretary (Health) issued an order based on directives received from the Ministry of Finance.
The Treasury Department has suggested that is not recommended to continue treatment for free for those under the category of APL because big financial obligations it creates.
It also shows that there has been a surge in cases of post-covid disease state requiring hospitalization.
However, the Chief Minister was upset with the decision taken by the Ministry of Health, and the same is communicated to the Minister of Health.
LDF has been advocating Covid treatment free for all during the pandemic, and this is especially highlighted in their campaign during the last assembly polls.
Recent orders issued by the Ministry of Health has fix Rs 750 as fees for general ward per day, Rs 2,000 as cost ventilator per day and Rs 1,500 as cost of ICU per day in hospitals that come under the category.
