Kerala Govt Must Look for Alternatives for Silverline: Opposition

Thiruvananthapuram: The government must seek an alternative to the Silverline project which is being imagined without considering geographical peculiarities and without conducting environmental and social impact studies, the opposition leader v D Satheesan.
“The expected project costs RS 64,941 Crore will form a large wall that connects north and south and will divide the country vertically into two.
According to the estimated Niti Aayog in 2018, this project will cost 1,33 lakh crore rs, which will rise to the hospital 1.5 lakh crore in 2021.
A total of 1,382 hectares must be obtained for the project, “Satheani said.
An environmental impact study has been done only for namesake, and the government has now floated the tender to conduct other studies at the expense of Rs 96 lakh, he added.
As many as 20,000 families and 50,000 traders must be moved and 145 hectares of rice land must be filled, he said.
Revelation by Alok Kumar Verma, a former train engineering officer who has prepared a preliminary report for systra, surprisingly, said Satheani.
“The government has planned 55% of the project on the high platform and in the remaining place, the walls must be established on both sides.
Reports of government institutions themselves say that there will be changes in land use patterns on both sides of the project location and in 164 points, waterways Natural will be disturbed, “he added.
Sathean said that the center only gave the principle approval for this project, and the government would advance with land acquisition for a project that had not been given a final permit, was mysterious.
Suspicion of Verma about whether this project was intended for real estate mafia raising worries, he said.
He added that the government should consider building a new railway line that is parallel to the lines, and to clean the curve, only 100 hectares of land that will be enough other than the maximum RS 20,000 Crore will be enough.
This center considers the Vande Bharat train traveling at a speed of 160kmph, and the state must explore the possibility of such a train, Satheani said.
UDF will protest the silverline project proposed on Saturday.
Protests will be held in front of the secretariat and district change from 10 districts throughout the project will pass.
Public March and Dharna will be held from 10am to 1:00 p.m.
The state level protest will be inaugurated by Satheani in Ernakulam.
Protests in front of the Secretariat will be inaugurated by the KPCC President K Sudhakan.
