Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday searched for a middle booth on a woman’s request for the support needed to her son, who languished in a UAE prison since August 2015, after his arrest for being suspected of spying on the Indian government.
“We will examine it.
The central government advice to get instructions (regarding the request),” Judge P Suresh Kumar said.
The court heard the request by Shahubanath Beevi, who also claimed that his son had been the target of “severe torture and abuse” and he did not get any support from the Indian Embassy there or the central government.
His son, Shihani Meera Sahib Jamal Mohammed, has been imprisoned in the Abu Dhabi central prison in the UAE since August 25, 2015, the petition, said Filedhrough, Jose Abraham, said.
During the trial, the applicant filed that according to the assessment passed by the UAE court in this issue, his son “acted for officials of the Indian Embassy in the UAE”.
The woman accused her son and did not even disclose the right legal assistance to defend himself in the course.
He also claimed that he sent several representations, including the latest on June 11, quoting violations of human rights and the rejection of basic rights to his sonand seeking assistance from the government.
However, he has not received any response, the request is claimed.
The woman’s request urged the High Court to issue a direction for the central government to “expand the support needed for the legal Petitional Son, diplomatically reliably” and also considered its newest representation in a reasonable period of time.
