Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George has held a high-level meeting to discuss the problems faced by Medical College Hospital (MCH).
He also looked for reports from hospital authorities about direct steps that must be taken at the hospital.
On Thursday night he had made a surprise visit to the hospital and had found that many health workers in charge were not present at the hospital at that time.
He spent more than three hours visiting all the wards and victims there.
The minister reached the hospital around 10:30 a.m.
directly to the victim’s department where he interacted with patients and observers there.
He also spoke with doctors on duty.
The Minister also verified the list of assignments to check whether all health care workers were present at the hospital at that time, but found that some of them were not present.
The minister explained that patients must be convinced about immediate care and care and strict actions will be taken against those who are not present at the hospital at their duty.
He asked the Principal of the Medical College to monitor the existence of employees regularly.
The minister visited the observation room, the new ward and emergency department.
He also has direct information about the difficulties faced by patients and observers who complain about the limit of space available in the old emergency department.
The Minister is also directed at speeding up the process of shifting the emergency department to the new wing.
