Kerala: Health Minister Veena George warns of actions against a Junior Doctor

Thiruvananthapuram: Junior Doctors have begun to boycott all emergency services at medical college hospitals even when Health Minister Veena George has explained that there will be no more talks with them because their main demand has been received.
Veena said according to the decision achieved between the Government and Kerala Medical Postgraduate (KMPGA) on December 7, within 48 hours the government has appointed 373 non-resident doctors in various medical college hospitals.
Other requests to increase wages for them have been asked to the Ministry of Finance.
Another request for Neet-PG counseling for the first year is not under the jurisdiction of the state government because this problem has been under consideration of the Supreme Court, said the Minister of Health.
“The association representative was happy with the decision taken in the discussion and they immediately told the government that they attracted a strike.
However, the junior doctor who broke down now was not part of those who came for talks with the government,” he said.
Therefore, the government is not ready to justify a strike called by part of a junior doctor and there will be no more talks with them.
The process of appointing the junior resident will begin on Monday, he added.
In the complaint that a striking junior doctor was expelled from the hostel on Thursday night, the minister said there was no such direction provided by the government.
“I have urged all the school principals from medical colleges not to make such decisions and nothing must be removed from the hostel,” Veena said.
However, the striking junior doctors believed that the command issued by the government appointed a non-academic junior doctor did not have clarity.
Not mentioned about the date of joining this junior resident and clarity needed for this.
Also not mentioned about the increase in salary in the New Order, Dr.
Ajithra said, President Thiruvananthapuram the KMPGA unit.
The strike has affected the function of medical college hospitals because Junior doctors have been married to operations and duties in the ward, workspace and theater operations.
Intensive care and the hospital’s emergency department have been affected.
Their senior colleagues, the Kerala Medical College Association (KGMCTA), also promised their support for the strike called by a Junior Doctor.
The Minister of Health has warned strict action if they proceed with their agitation, which will affect the normal function of MCHS.
“The part of the PG doctor intentionally caused obstacles to the treatment of Covid-19 and non-Covid in the state.
The steps will begin under the epidemic disease law if the doctor does not attract strikes,” said Minister of Health.
The government has published orders that appointed 50 Junior residents in Thiruvananthapuram, 72 in Kozhikode, 72 in Thrissur, 75 in Kottayam, 61 in Alappuzha, 36 in Kannur and seven in the Ernakulam medical college.
They will get a wage of Rs 45,000 as a consolidated payment.
