Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Saturday reported 3,795 new covid cases and 245 deaths, which took cooperatives to 51,78,999 and the death toll became 42,824.
Of the 245 deaths, 50 recorded over the past few days and 195 were designated as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court, said the release of the state government.
With 4,308 more people recovered from viruses since Friday, total recovery reached 51.08,764 and active cases fell to 38,583, he said.
A total of 58,344 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Among the 14 districts, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest with 681 new cases, followed by Ernakulam (543) and Thrissur (445).
From new cases, 25 are health workers, 14 from outside the country and 3,556 were infected through contact with the source unclear in 200.
There are currently 1,61,939 people under supervision in various districts, including 1,57,425 in the quarantine of the house or institutional and 4,514 in the hospital, the release said.
