Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Friday recorded 41,668 fresh coronavirus cases, taking a total case with 55.29,566, a day after registering 46,387 cases, the highest single day surge since the plague of pandemic in 2020.
The Ministry of Health said 95,218 samples in the last 24 hours and there were 2,23.
548 Covid-19 active cases.
However, relief to the state health sector, only 3 percent were hospitalized.
On Friday, Kerala reported 106 deaths, took the victim to 51,607.
Among the current deaths, 33 was recorded over the past few days and 73 was appointed as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court.
Among the districts, Thiruvananthapuram saw 7,896 new cases, followed by Ernakulam with 7,339 and Kozhikode 4,143.
Of those found infected, 139 reached the country from outside, while 36,693 contracted disease from their contacts.
The source of 4.468 infection has not been traced.
A total of 368 health workers were also infected.
Meanwhile, 17,053 people recovered from infection today, taking the total amount cured to 52,76,647.
