Palakkad: Rahman, who hit the headlines to look after his lover Sajitha hidden in one room at his home for 10 years without anyone’s knowledge, finally married him in Nenmark on Wednesday.
They entered the marriage under special marital laws in the office of the local sub-registrar.
Wrapped in simple cotton Salwar, Sajitha looked happy and safe when signing a marriage document along with Rahman, who was seen in traditional Mundu (Dhoti) and a shirt.
The couple then distributes candy and thanked everyone who supports them to get married.
“We want to live a happy and peaceful life from now on,” Rahman said.
Sajitha’s parents also attended their functions while Rahman’s relatives who opposed the relationship away.
Nenmen Mla K Babu, who attended the wedding, said the couple would get all the support to fulfill their dreams of building their own homes.
Coming from the village of Ayyiloor here, a couple, in his thirties, has lived in a rented house after staying for the decade of Sajitha in his room to become public a few months ago.
The Kerala state female commission has even registered a case against Rahman who said that guarding a woman in captivity opposed the law.
According to the police, the woman was looked after by people as long as she lived 10 years long in a room at her house in Karakkattuparambam.
There was no bathroom attached to the room, they said, added that the woman was reportedly out of the room at night through the window, which was found closed during the day.
