Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala records the lowest collection efficiency in solid waste management among all states and the United States for 2018-19 and 2019-20, according to the data presented in Lok Sabha by the Minister of State Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
The recycling capacity of Kerala from dangerous waste also fell from 9.64% to 2.38% between 2016-17 and 2019-20 although the generation of hazardous waste in the country increased by more than 700% in the same period, the numbers showed.
The numbers for the efficiency of waste collection shows that Kerala each recorded 19% and 25% for 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Going with numbers, Kerala is the only state that has recorded a way under 50% efficiency in the collection of waste in this country.
Tables do not provide information about Bihar and Gujarat, the majority of the countries have recorded efficiency above 80%.
Even in connection with the treatment of waste produced in the state, Kerala recorded 52% for 2019-20.
