Kerala on Bragging Rrag in Pickup Trash

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala records the lowest collection efficiency in solid waste management among all states and the United States for 2018-19 and 2019-20, according to the data presented in Lok Sabha by the Minister of State Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey.
The recycling capacity of Kerala from dangerous waste also fell from 9.64% to 2.38% between 2016-17 and 2019-20 although the generation of hazardous waste in the country increased by more than 700% in the same period, the numbers showed.
The numbers for the efficiency of waste collection shows that Kerala each recorded 19% and 25% for 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Going with numbers, Kerala is the only state that has recorded a way under 50% efficiency in the collection of waste in this country.
Tables do not provide information about Bihar and Gujarat, the majority of the countries have recorded efficiency above 80%.
Even in connection with the treatment of waste produced in the state, Kerala recorded 52% for 2019-20.
The data presented in Parliament has been sourced from the Central Policy Control Agency.
The percentage of billing efficiency shown low shown in numbers can also be a result of poor data management in the state.
CPCB Annual Report Over the years often show repeated comments for Kerala; information that is not accepted.
However, even the project documents prepared by the Suchitwa mission, the Nodal Agency for waste management for the world-sponsored solid waste management project, reaffirming the sad numbers of Kerala at the national level.
The main purpose mentioned under the Kerala Solid Waste Management Project is to increase local body institutional capacity.
This project is encouraged, especially with the conflict that the local body fails in waste management.
Documents Prepared by SuchitWa Mission for Solid Waste Management Project List of irregularities in the local body parts.
The assessment of the service delivery gap is carried out as part of the project shows various interference with the existing system.
It notes that the majority of urban local agencies do not comply with solid waste management rules by not providing door gathering services and processing biodegradable waste at the city and regional levels.
Also noted that compliance with bulk generators to process biodegradable waste in low places and that local bodies do not provide door gathering services to doors for hotels and restaurants.
It shows that the urban local body failed to prepare biodegradable waste treatment facilities which resulted in biodegradable waste which was disposed of in open spaces, water bodies, trash cans, etc.
Causes health & environmental problems, document records.
Another fight for waste collection needs is pressure on the management of the resource level waste.
By 2021, 84,531 biogas factories, 3.14 lakh composting factory, 2003 community composting units, and 98 community biogas factories have been installed in the state in the past four years.
However, there are no real monitoring reports available on current functionality of these units.
As for Trivandrum Corporation, the percentage of good units is not used due to lack of maintenance.
