Thiruvananthapuram: Pettah Police on Friday arrested a 70-year-old man on charges of raping a woman after calling him to his home offering his job as a domestic aid.
The police said the defendant was a resident of the apartment complex in Anayara.
The police said that the crime accused of committing on Thursday.
The woman appeared in front of the police at the Pettah station and filed her complaint on the same day.
The police have accused the defendant under Section 376 IPC for rape.
He was produced in front of the court and returned in the custody of the judiciary.
Pettah Sub-Inspector of P Ratheshesh, who is part of the team that arrested the defendant, said that the defendant was a former NRI who lived alone.
His wife and children live in Dubai.
Allegations have placed advertisements on popular line websites, OLX, looking for domestic assistance, especially to clear their residence.
The 35-year-old complainant saw ads and responded.
They spoke by telephone and decided to meet on Thursday.
The woman arrived at Pettah Junction on the Autorickshaw.
The accusation came in his car and picked him up and took him to his flat.
After reaching his residence, his attitude towards the woman changed.
He allegedly forced him to him and raped him.
After the incident, the woman rushed to the police station and told them what happened.
