Thiruvananthapuram: In the midst of criticism of the state government’s decision to do a plus one check on offline mode even when the pandemic went on a rampage, the Department of General Education has been on Tuesday revising the exam schedule to ensure a larger interval between papers.
Higher secondary secondary examinations and vocational will begin in September 6 and 7 respectively, as planned, but the two examinations will be more than September 27, not September 16 according to the previous schedule.
Statement from the Office of the Minister of Public Education V Sivankutty said the schedule was stretched after the specific instructions of the Minister so students would have more time to prepare themselves before each examination.
“The Minister intervenes and instructs to scheduling based on the demands submitted by students and teachers,” said the statement.
With a revised schedule, students will get a two-to-three-day gap between the exam.
They will get multiple choice questions so they can answer according to their convenience.
The 80-score paper will have questions for a score of 120.
Students can also attend more questions than the specified numbers and in such cases, only the answers that pick up a better score will be considered during the tabulation.
All questions will be from only the focus area published by Scerter.
Because the number of questions has doubled, students will get 20 minutes the break association from a higher secondary teacher previously increasing concerns about the decision to carry out the exam without proper revised classes or exam models.
