Kerala recorded 7,995 new Covid-19 cases, 57 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 7,995 new positive cases and 57 deaths related to Covid-19 on Saturday, took the total affected in the country to 48,37,560 and the death toll became 26,791.
State Minister Veena George said 79,722 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and there were 211 wards in 158 local government bodies with a weekly infection population ratio above ten percent.
Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the number of highest fresh infections – 1,280, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 985 and Kozhikode 937.
“There were 90,885 active Covid-19 cases which were only 9.8 percent hospitalized,” Minister said in the release.
Meanwhile, 11,769 people were recovered from this disease, taking a total of recovery up to 47.28,497.
According to the release, from those who were found infected today, 27 reached the country from outside the interim 7,562 contracted disease through their contacts.
321 infection sources have not been traced and 45 health workers also among those infected.
At present, there are 3,14,640 people under observations which are 10,404 in the path of isolation from various hospitals.
