Kerala reported 17,983 new Covid-19 cases, 127 deaths

Kochi: Kerala on Friday recorded 17,983 new Covid-19 cases and 127 deaths, took infection counted to 45.97,293 and the death toll became 24,318.
The Minister of Health Veena George said 1,10,523 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
According to him, there were 841 wards at 422 local government agencies with a weekly population infection ratio (WIPR) above 10 percent.
“There were 1,62,846 cases of Active Covid-19 which were only 12.6 percent hospitalized,” said Minister.
Meanwhile, 15,054 people were restored from disease on Friday, taking a total of recovery up to 44.09,530.
“From those infected today, 72 reached the country from the interim of 16.918 contracted disease through their contact.
The source of 877 infection has not been traced and 116 health workers also among those infected,” Minister said in the release.
Among the districts, Thrissur reported the number of highest fresh infections – 2,784, followed by Ernakulam with 2397 and Thiruvananthapuram 1,802.
There were 4,69,954 people under the supervision of where 22,512 were on the isolation path of various hospitals.
The Minister also said that 91.3 percent of the targeted population, over the age of 18, had taken the first dose of the Covid vaccine and 39 percent of the same age group received the dose.
