Kerala reported 4,801 Covid-19 fresh cases, 258 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram: Covid-19 fresh cases in Kerala saw a further increase on Wednesday with a country that reported 4,801 new infections that raised Kaseload to 52.54.290.
The southern state has reported 3,640 cases on Tuesday.
The state also recorded 258 deaths that increased the total fatality to 48,895 until now, the official press release said.
Of the 258 deaths, 29 were recorded over the last few days and 229 were designated as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the new central guidelines and the direction of the Supreme Court.
With 1,813 people recovered from the virus since Tuesday, total recovery reached 51.90,913 and active cases reached 22,910, the release said.
A total of 71,098 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam recorded the highest with 1,081 new cases followed by Thiruvananthapuram (852) and Kozhikode (467).
From new cases, 36 are health workers, 76 from outside the country and 4,458 were infected through contact with the source unclear at 231.
At present there are 1,04,353 people under supervision in various districts, including 1,02.007 in the quarantine of the house or Institutional and 2,356 in the hospital, said the release.
