Kerala reported 8,909 new Covid-19 cases, 65 deaths

Kochi: Kerala recorded 8,909 new Covid-19 cases and 65 deaths on Saturday, took the number of infections to 48,97,587 and the death toll became 28.229.
A total of 8,780 people were restored from this disease, taking counting healed to 47.97.409, leaving 80,555 active cases.
From this active case, only 9.8 percent of patients were hospitalized, according to official release.
State Minister Veena George said 86,111 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and there were 211 wards in 158 local government agencies with a weekly infection population ratio above ten percent.
Among the districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of fresh cases – 1,233, followed by Thiruvananthapuram with 1,221 and thrissur-1,105.
Of those found infected today, 49 reached the country from outside, while 8,476 contracted disease through their contacts.
Source of infection 332 has not been traced and 52 health workers also among those infected, the Minister said in the release.
There were 2,70,430 people in observations which were 8,775 in the path of isolation from various hospitals.
