Thiruvananthapuram: Two cases of Zika again have been reported from state capital, taking the total case to 21 in Kerala.
A 35-year-old man from Pesisir Poonthura Hamlet and a 41-year-old woman from Sasthamangalam in the city has been tested positively.
However, of the 15 samples sent for testing to Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, 13 was tested negative Zika.
One case was reported on Mondays and three cases reported on Sundays that included 22-month-old children.
All 21 cases have been reported from state capital so far.
The central team that visited the state to review the situation has directed the government to ensure mosquito control measures.

The Central Team has a discussion with the Health Administration of Thiruvananthapuram Regency and also visits areas where Zika’s virus infection has been reported.
“We have given special instructions to test all pregnant women who come with the symptoms of dengue or chikungunya.
We have also given direction to all scanning centers in the district to report allegations of immediate cases to the District Health Authority,” said Dr.

The Central Team has directed the Ministry of Health to work towards eradicating mosquitoes that can prevent the spread of the virus.
The Ministry of Health has collected samples from people who come into contact with positive people and also from their environment.
