Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued an order to cancel 530 land degrees issued by violating land assignment regulations, 1964, at least 10 villages in Devikulam Taluk in Idukki, which is famous as ‘Raveendran PTontams’.
Land titles were issued by Deputy Tahsildar M I Ravedran, who held accusations of additional administration in Devikulam, in 1999, exceeding his strength.
A meeting organized by former Revenue Minister E Chandraskharan on June 18, 2019, has decided to cancel all these titles, who have time and once again become a controversial subject every time a land problem in Munnar and Devikulam has come to the public domain.
On the basis of the decision, the government has formed a five-member team led by Deputy Tahsildar to test this title and cancel the illegal, when issuing a fresh degree for recipients who qualified.
After a detailed examination, the five member committees have reported the government about fake titles and recommends that these titles canceled.
On the basis of the committee’s recommendations, the government has now decided to cancel the title according to the rules of 8 (3) land assignment rules, 1964 and rules 21 (1) and 21 (4) of the Devan Hill Kannan (4) (ordering and personal land assignments), rules , 1977.
In accordance with the rules of 8 (3) of the land assignment rules, the registry can be canceled because of the error representation of the facts or if assigned excessively from the limit of the force delegated to the assignment authority or if there are irregularities in the procedure.
In accordance with section 21 (1), 21 (4) of the rules of the Devan Kannan hill, the task can be canceled if there is a similar violation.
The government has also ordered the district collector, idukki, to immediately take back the copy of the file in this case confiscated by the alphabetical and anti-corruption bureau for investigation, within 15 days.
After canceling the title, the current title holder must submit a fresh title before Devikulam Tahsildar.
A special team consisting of Deputy Tahsildar, two surveyors, one income inspector and two special village officials will be deployed in each village where this fake title has been issued.
District collectors have been asked to complete and choose fresh applications based on their feasibility, and complete steps to set titles for all applicants who qualify within two months, in the latest order.
