Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Finance K N Balagopal said in the assembly that the state has decided to look for a special package from the center to assist Kerala Non-Resident (NRK) and the plantation sector driven by a crisis.
MPS from the country has been asked to put pressure at the center in this matter.
As for an estimate of 14 lakh NRS back during a pandemic, where 10 lakh people have lost their jobs.
This is a severe setback for state financial position.
The decision was taken to form a group of cooperative and commercial banks to develop a resurrection package for Kerala which faced a severe financial crisis because of a pandemic.
The revival package will give a push to the agricultural sector and also create investment opportunities in diverse sectors of the country.
Already, the state government in talks with Nabard for a special package for Kerala.
Commercial banks increase their deposits from the country but only channel a small portion of it as a loan for the state community.
This situation must change.
Commercial banks must disburse more numbers as loans considered by the state government to form a board, the Minister said.
