Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition and BJP have called the K-Rail DPR released by an impromptu government.
Oppo leader V D Satheesan said the DPR was improvised.
“How can the DPR be prepared without conducting a social and environmental impact study.
The DPR claims that all natural resources in demand for the K-Rail 530km project are available in Kerala Tengah,” he said.
At least 55% of K-Rail (292 km) will have a dike, a height ranging from one to nine meters.
The wall will be built elsewhere.
All of these works need granite and sand.
“The government must notify where it continues to hide the large deposit of natural resources in Kerala Tengah.
K-Rail MD previously claimed that natural resources will be brought from other states by train.
The DPR does not even mention the number of granite and sand needed for Construction work, “he said.
State President of BJP K Surendran also attacked the government to prepare the DPR which was incomplete for such a megaproject.
“The warning given by e sreedharan has been proven correctly.
This project is intended to help the mine contractor and mafia.
This is a report prepared casually,” he said.
Basically what the government hopes that the K-Rail will attract 80,000 passengers per day while the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train expects only 36,000 passengers, he asks.
