THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than one crore citizens have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the state, health and family welfare minister Veena George said here on Wednesday.
While as many as 1,00,69,673 citizens have been administered the first dose, 26,89,731 have been administered the second dose as well.
As many as 1,27,59,404 doses have been administered including the first and second doses in the state.
Among the districts, Ernakulam stands at the top with 12,33,315 first doses.
Thiruvananthapuram stans second having administered 11,95,303 first doses.
Five districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode have administered more than 10 lakh doses.
The health minister congratulated the vaccine team for administering the vaccines without any wastage.
While the state’s women have received 51,99,069 doses of vaccine, men are lagging behind with 48,68,860) shots.
As many as 1,16,41,451 doses of the Covishield vaccine and 11,17,931 doses of Covaxin have been administered among the state’s population till now.
Vaccines have been administered to 22,68,228 persons aged between 18 years and 44 years, 37,94,936 persons aged between 45 and 60 years and 39,93,967 persons above 60 years.
As many as 1,24,01,800 doses of vaccine have been received by the state till now.
The minister said that our experienced nurses and health workers could utilize even one dose of vaccine that could be garnered additionally and used them without wasting a single dose, which caught national attention when several other states wasted vaccine doses.
The state government had prepared an action plan to administer 2 to 2.5 lakh doses of vaccine per day to its citizens that had been achieved in a short time, the minister said.
While as many as 2.62 lakh doses of vaccine were administered on Monday, 2.30 lakh doses were administered on Tuesday.
The minister added that the government intends to administer vaccines to more persons per day, depending on the availability of the vaccine.
