Thiruvananthapuram: The country does not have a vaccine stock to provide jab from Tuesday.
Existing shares have expired on Monday, and only a few districts have little shares.
There will be no vaccination from Tuesday at least in seven districts.
Health Minister Veena George said, “The country has zero stock vaccines.
The district such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam, there is no vaccine stock for Tuesday.
Only covaxin is left with several districts.” Previously, when talking in the Assembly, the minister said the center has promised a 30 lakh country vaccine for August, but it’s not enough.
The state requires at least 60 lakh vaccines in August.
If they provide 30 doses of lakh, from that, we can provide only eight lakh for the first dose vaccination because the rest must be given to people waiting for the second dose.
Loose guards: Even though people wear masks, they don’t hold on to social distance in the state.
The scene of the junction of the bridge in Thiruvananthapuram on the MDayat was present, only 21% of people in the age group 18 to 45 years have received the first dose, and only 2.64 lakh among these have received the second dose.
Likewise, 76% of people above the age group of 45 years have received the first dose, and 39% received a second dose.
It is estimated that more than 1.48 crores over the age of 18 are still waiting for the first dose.
Likewise, 27 lakh people above the age of 45 have not received the first dose.
About 79 lakh people in this age group got their first jab, now waiting for the second dose.
There were a total of 1.13 crore people in this age group.
The next vaccine consignment for the state is expected on Thursday according to the decision from the center.
Therefore it was reported that vaccination in the state would not occur for the next three days.
“The state uses the maximum dose immediately after the consignment is received.
Therefore if we get six lakh vaccines, it will be completed in two days.
The state has recorded vaccination 4.5 lakh in a day,” Minister said.
Meanwhile, districts such as Wayanad and Kasaragod have achieved a percent percent vaccination (first dose) for people over 45 years.
