Kerala: Walkout Over Attack on the AISF leader at Mahatma Gandhi University

Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition held a walkout, the second on Tuesday, after the Minister of Higher Education R Bindu avoided reply to the question by the opposition regarding the attack on AISF women’s leaders at a female university.
In a reply to submitting the opposition leader VD Sathean, the Minister of Higher Education R Bindu explained about the selection of the Senate held at Mahatma Gandhi University on October 21, and said that “some students were involved in fighting and the police intervened in spreading this problem.
This incident did not affect the electoral process in any way.
Also, there are no complaints about this at the University “.
The Minister also said that the four cases had been registered by the police in this matter and added that the government had instituted “strong steps to ensure free political activism on campuses”.
The opposition then took a strong exception with the response of the Minister who did not touch the problem raised by the opposition leader, and said that if this was the way the ministers answered problems raised in the assembly, there was no point in coming to the Assembly.
The opposition is then staged.
Previously, while raising this problem, Sathean said that the Joint Secretary of AISF who also came from the Dalit community was cruelly attacked by SFI students.
He was sexually attacked and also had to face Casteist comments.
“Not important politics but how a girl who is a country leader from the organization of students is treated by SFI leaders.
SFI leaders involved in this case are beginner criminals who are famous for their similar activities at various campuses in Kochi,” he said.
He said that one of the perpetrators mentioned in the girl’s complaint also quoted one member of the Minister of Education’s staff.
But when the police registered the FIR, the name was not there.
Also, a case was registered based on a reply petition against the victim the following day, even without investigating original complaints.
He said that the CPI ministers now confirmed the attack on their own student organization leaders.
He said even though this problem was related to the police who should be answered by the minister’s chairman, he avoided answering it by submitting it to the minister of higher education which had nothing to do with the criminal action and police action.
