Key Date in Catalonia Separatist Crisis

Barcelona: Four years after the Catalonia government held a failed independence offer, a former separatist leader of Carles Puigdemont was arrested in Italy and could face extradition to Spain, where he desired at the cost of sense.
Here are the date-dates in the separatist crisis in the northeastern region of Spain.
On September 6, 2017, the Catalonia parliament paved the way for the independence referendum on October 1, fiercely opposed by Madrid.
Security forces intervened in a referendum and images of beaming police violence throughout the world.
On October 3, after hundreds of thousands of Catalan rally to protest violence, King Felipe VI condemned the offer of independence.
On October 27, more than half of Parliamentarians Parliament Catalan declared independence.
Madrid suspended Catalonia’s autonomy, dissolved his parliament and rejected his separatist leaders.
On November 2, eight regional ministers were detained.
The European arrest warrant was issued for Puigdemont, which had fled to Brussels.
In the regional election of December 21, Catalan chose separatist partism back to power, including candidates in prisons and self-imposed exile.
On June 2, 2018, Quim Torra became the new president of Catalonia and the autonomy of the region was restored.
On the same day a new Spanish Prime Minister also vowed – Pedro Sanchez, who adopted a softer tone in Catalonia but put aside the independence referendum.
On October 14, 2019, the Supreme Court handled a prison sentence between nine and 13 years to nine separatists, who were punished for incitement.
Thousands of Catalants poured into the streets in protests, blocking the road and railroad and storming Barcelona airport, burning barricades and collided with riot police.
Sanchez won his second term in January 2020 with the support of the Catalan Catalan Separatist Party, which supported him in exchange for talks between Madrid and the Catalan government.
The conversation began on February 26 but was suspended because of a pandemic.
In September, Torra was banned from public offices because they refused to eliminate the separatist symbol of the public building, triggered the initial election in Catalonia.
During the election of February 2021, separatist parties increased their majority in the Catalan Parliament and agreed to elect the ERC Sodate PE Aragones as president.
He promised to push the new referendum about independence.
After hiatu 18 months, the talk continued in September, with Aragones said that both parties were still “very far apart”.
On behalf of “reconciliation”, Sanchez said the government would forgive nine imprisoned leaders.
On June 22, the cabinet approved a controversial step, despite the fierce opposition from the Spanish right-wing party.
Puigdemont was captured in Italy on September 23.
MEP Europe, whose immunity was canceled in March, will face hearing that can see it extradited to Spain.
