Bengaluru: Congress on Sunday appointed the MLA Party and the former Minister of You Khader as Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislative Party in the State Legislative Assembly.
He currently represents the Constituency of Mangalore Assembly in the District of Dakshina Kannada.
“The President of Congress Hon’ble has appointed Shri U Khader, MLA as the representative of the Congress legislative party in the Karnataka legislative Assembly, with a direct effect,” said the AICC release signed by the Secretary General of the Venugopal Party.
Khader said it was the best privilege and honor to be appointed as representatives of the Congress legislative party in the legislature.
Thanking the party’s leadership including Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiiah and DK Shivakumar for planning confidence in him, in a tweet, he said, “I hope to work with the carrier of offices, members and workers to strengthen the party in the country Section at the grassroots level, and overcome the problem of the welfare of the residents.
“Former Minister of Siddaramaiiah was the leader of the Congress legislative party and opposition leader in the State Assembly.
The appointment of Khader was seen as a step from the Congress to worn the Muslim community, ahead of the assembly poll in 2023, said party sources.
This step came a few days after the leader of the Senior Congress and MLC C M.
Ibrahim said that he had decided to quit the party and post, upset because he was not made as opposition leader in the Karnataka legislative council.
According to sources, there is a murmur in the party about a Muslim leader who was rejected by the opportunity, after senior leaders of the Hariprasad were appointed as opposition leaders in the legislative council, where Ibrahim was also a strong competitor.
