Jaipur: Accused unidentified kidnapped IT managers aged 28 years and extort Rs 72,500 from him before claiming that they had kidnapped the wrong man.
The incident took place late Thursday when the manager supervising the work of fiber cable near Haldi Ghati MARG.
Four defendants arrived at the place, grabbed his cell phone and wrapping it into their cars.
According to the FIR, one of the accused told the kidnappers that they are looking for a boy who allegedly disturbing the girlfriend of a friend.
They claimed that they had mistakenly kidnapped him and let him go, before forcing her to transfer Rs 72,500 through mobile apps.
Allegations then dropped near Shivdapas IT managers and escape.
He then went to the police station and filed a fir.
Pratap Nagar Police Station SHO Balbir Singh told TOI that police suspected the involvement of a gang who kidnapped people by false pretense.
“There are similar cases were reported from different police station a few days ago.
We are looking for the accused based on the description provided by the victim,” Singh said.
Police said that the gang has released the victim near ShivdaSpura area in the city shortly after 1:30 am.
The victim then sought help passing motorists in the area.
Police party arrived at a place near Haldi Ghati, and the search for the victim’s car and found that several items, including cash was missing.
“It seems to be the work of organized gangs that claimed several kidnapping and release it later after extorting money through transactions UPI,” an official told TOI.
Until the end of Friday night, police were unable to find clues about the identity of the accused.
They added that efforts are being made to track down the people involved in the kidnapping case.
“An FIR has been registered under section abduction (Section 365) and extortion (Section 384) of IPC,” the official added.
