Palanpur: The relatives of a Bootlegger who allegedly died in detention in the tune in Mehsana had accused the police brutality, which caused his death.
However, the police have denied all the allegations of torture.
Accused of Rakesh Thakor, 27, seems to fail to appear on all calls that the court has sent it.
A police team then went to his house by summoning on August 12.
He was produced in court, which sent him to detention of the tune from 12 to 15 August.
“We (the police) did on August 12 will tell Thakor that he did not present himself in court despite the call and took him to the police station.
Only 10 minutes before we proceed to present it in court,” said Mehsana SP Parthrajshinh Gohil to Tii on Wednesday.
“When he is in a prison under the supervision of the court, how can the police take the law into their hands and kill him?” Gohil asked.
The wife of the deceased, Jassiben, accused, “Only after the custodian torture, did the police bring my husband to a civil hospital for treatment on Sunday, when it was too late.” The woman added that she had also filed a memorandum to the Oudit Agarwal District collector on Wednesday demanding tight action against guilty police.
In memorandum, the father of the deceased, Samtaji Thakor also threatened to take a protest rally to Gandhinagar if the authorities failed to take action on their requests.
In addition to relatives, memorandum was also signed by several leading members of Thakor Samaj.
