Democratic congressmen from Illinois, King Krishnamoorthi, asked his colleagues to join the letter to the understanding of US homes Nancy Pelosi and the majority leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer to overcome work-based green card backlogs as part of budget reconciliation.
By asserting that “the economic recovery of Covid-19 depends on him”, Krishnamoorthi said whatever package discussed the priority of immigration that had long had to include assistance for around 1.2 million people, most Indians, who could not receive green cards, especially because of state-based discrimination.
“I am happy that handling our damaged immigration system is part of the discussion of budget reconciliation,” said Indian-American Congressman in a press release on Monday.
“However, it is very important every immigration package includes provisions to overcome work-based green card backlogs, which damage American competitiveness and leave 1.2 million people for immigrant immigrant status.
I called my colleagues to immediately raise this important problem with this Leadership and ensure that assistance for skilled workers who are backlogs are included in the final package.
Our economic recovery from Covid-19 depends on it.
