Nagpur: Atal Bahadur Singh, 79, a leading figure in the city government, academic, culture and sports circling, died on Friday afternoon after a prolonged disease.
The last rite will be carried out on Saturday.
Born on March 2, 1942 in Benara, Singh is a respected figure crossing many circles because of its friendly nature.
After becoming the Deputy Mayor in 1974, he had twice wore a mayor’s cap in 1977 and 1994.

“He enriched the scenario of the art and culture of the city and was very passionate about development, getting rid of political differences.
As a student leader, Singh has taken part in the initiative to mention the various Nagpur University campuses after revolutionary freedom fighters,” recalled the opposition leader Devendra Fadnivis.
In addition to holding the position of President of the Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA), Singh is a member of the NU Executive Board, Senate and other bodies for a long time and is part of many important decisions.

In 2014, he was honored by Shiv Chhatrapati for a lifetime of the achievement by the Maharashtra government.
“Atal Bhaiyya is an asset for the Western Indian Football Association (WIFA).
I ​​happen to work with it for more than 30 years and we have organized many events in this region including Indian vs India soccer matches at Yashwant Stadium,” said President Ndfa Haresh Vora.
