Kolkata: With the majority of the health department staff who work in the birth wings and death certificates have not recovered from Covid, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to keep the department close until January 13.
The birth activity and certificate of wing death has continued to be suspended since last Saturday after several department staff were tested positively and sent to house isolation.
Although KR Kuningan has to reopen the wings from Tuesday, senior officials at the Ministry of Health decided to reopen the wing on Friday.
According to KMC sources, the department boss is considering reopening the Dropbox system and ask residents to submit their documents in Dropbox to avoid meeting residents directly.
“We may need to restore the Dropbox system because infection spreads such as fire,” said KMC health department official.
