Kolkata: The KMC road department has taken a special relaying project for several main roads damaged by heavy rain recently, with a special focus to strengthen stretches placed with asphalt.
Among the streets that tend to get fresh paving are Hazra Road, Alipore Road, Asutosh Mukherjee Road and Chittaranjan Avenue.
In addition, most Bypass Em will undergo comprehensive repairs, Civic officials said.
But repairs or relays may not start before the rainy season, said a civilian official.
According to him, the number of rain record received by the city in June, July and August has brought Havoc on the highway.
“We have begun to identify stretches that have been badly damaged.
After that, we will take a thorough improvement process.
Some roads may need fresh paving,” said a road department official.
