Kolkata: Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Tuesday launched a serological survey that was widely awaited from the mayor’s clinic in Chetla.
The aim was to find the extent to which antibodies were developed in citizens against the Covid-19 virus after vaccination and the effect of shots on people suffering from co-morbidity factors.
Civic’s body on Tuesday officially started work for serological surveys by collecting blood samples of 20 KMC health workers who had worked as Covid soldiers.
“We begin the serological survey process by getting along in our own covid soldiers who have been vaccinated.
We want to watch the effects of vaccination on them,” said a civilian official related to drive vaccination.
The Civic body will extend the scope of the survey between residents of the entire city.
“The survey will be carried out through random sampling in 144 wards.
We have a trained worker team that will visit the environment and accept the requirements of those who have been vaccinated.
We will collect blood samples randomly from people who are vaccinated.
The focus will be a person with comorbidity , “said KMC health official.
The source of the KMC Health Service said the Civic body had a list of ready from some of the city populations that had suffered from co-morbidity factors.
The Civic team had surveyed 7.5 lakh households throughout the city last year and found 1 lakh people had a co-morbidity factor.
Hypertension and diabetes are found to be present in most people detected by comorbidity.
KMC has roamed experts in public health and microbiology to make surveys truly effective and beneficial for residents.
