Kolkata: KMC needs to provide 1 dose of lakh in the next seven days to overcome the second dose backlog.
The Civic body hopes to get an adequate number of vaccines to increase the drive inoculation.
To achieve a rather rigid target, the Ministry of Health KMC has asked Executive Health Officers and Medical Officers Complication of Covid Covid Vaccination (CVC) to order at least 50% allocation for the second dose from Tuesday.
“This is an urgent step to remove the second dose deposit, which grows with a leap and boundaries when we face the lack of acute vaccines over the past few days,” said KMC health department official.
KKS Kuningan must suspend the first dose vaccination on Friday and Saturday due to lack of supply and utilizing any supply available from Swasthya Bhawan to invest in the second dose recipient.
“Even then we can’t clean 15% of the total backlog.
We hope to get augmented supply from next week and prioritize the second dose vaccination,” the official said.
The official said the target from Tuesday will provide 15,000-20,000 second doses in 195 civilian vaccination centers every day.
It’s separate, the KMC has decided to give the second dose of the mega vaccination clinic from next week.
According to the rules, these centers can only serve super priority groups or spreaders, including vendors, vegetables, fish vendors, security guards, domestic assistance, teachers, journalists and government officials.
However, the Civic boss has decided to calm the rules to provide a second dose because of the vaccine allocation for a higher mega center.
“We hope to speed up the second dose vaccination of the clinic and mega center.
If necessary, we will relax the rules to accommodate the second dose recipient.
If we can manage a fairly large portion of the vaccine available from Swasthya Bhawan for our clinic, we will be able to reach Closer to our target, “said the official.
