Kolkata: At least two KMC selection candidates have stepped into their heavy-class family members’ shoes, which are no longer part of the contest but their image greater than life can determine the fate of contestants.
One of them is Tanima Chererjee, a sister of the Minister of Trinamool who was late in Subrata Mukherjee and the others were Ratna Chatterjee, the wife of the terrace from the former Mayor of Sovan Chatterjee.
Both turned out to be very banking on the popularity of Subrata and Sovan to win against their opponents.
Ratna, who fought the KMC poll from Parnasree in Behala (Ward 131), as if trying to ignore her “Perkasa” her husband who wasolated from Parnasree, at first.
But now, he apparently “made peace with his presence” and convinced the voters that he would try to fulfill Sovan’s unfinished work.
“It’s true that he hasn’t stepped into Parnasree since he decided to switch to high-rise Golpark three years ago.
But it’s not an easy task to eliminate his memory as a civil administrator, who has changed the face of Parnasree,” Ratna told Toi, sitting at his residence.
According to Tanima, Subrata Mukherjee’s sister, he was fighting for Civic’s polls only to honor his brother’s last wish.
Chatterjee knew the battle was uneven because he was, an independent candidate, pitted against Sudarshana Mukherjee, a Trinamool candidate and board members sitting.
But banking in the image of Subrata Mukherjee, he was determined to hold a difficult fight.
“If my rival has a party on his side, I have my brother’s blessing.
I have trust in the Ballygunge and garawan people for whom my brother has done so much – both as a mayor and as MLA,” he said.

Ratna admitted that being Sovan’s wife, she had an advantage.
