Kolkata: Calcutta High Court directs the State Election Commission (SEC) to deliver within 24 hours of its decision about the feasibility of the voting agent in a polling booth for KMC selection on Sundays.
SEC this time decided that the voting agent could become a resident of the region, break away from tradition, where an agent must be a booth voter.
BJP candidate from Ward 116 Swapna Banerjee has moved HC, challenging the Sec decision.
Advice for Petitioner Fhiroze Edulji was submitted to court that the SEC had to relax his decision and allowed the population of the ward to act as a voting agency in any ward in the ward.
Judge Rajasekhar Manha directed the SEC to consider prayer and presented his decision to the court on Friday.
