Kolkata: This independence day, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is set to start the serological survey project to find out whether the vaccination citizens have developed sufficient antibodies to defeat the virus and what has become the effect of Covid vaccine shots on those who suffer from – morbidity.
About 1-1.5 people lakh is expected to be surveyed in the project.
The KMC health department that has been at the forefront of the inoculation drive is now preparing for a massive survey that will be carried out through random sampling in 144 wards.
“Our expert team and health workers are ready to carry out surveys.
They will visit various environments and take blood samples of people who have been vaccinated, including those who have received both shots and those who only got one shot.
The selection of people will be random.
Of course, of course, We will try to make sure that there are people with co-morbidities in the sample group too, “said a KMC health department official who is one member of the Civic Task Force that will conduct research.
KMC will start a survey of the chetla-calighat-alipore belt.
Then, voluntary health workers will visit households in other wards, said the source of the civilian health department.
Residents of several large slums of the city, including Belgaachhia in the north and Peyara chart in the South is expected to be included in the survey.
To ensure the survey is done correctly and the results are credible, the KMC has been spaced at experts in the field of public health.
Maitreyee Banerjee, an expert in microbiology, will bring to his desperate table in conducting similar studies on the SSKM.
According to Banerjee, it is very important to study the impact of vaccines in people who suffer from co-morbidity.
“In addition to determining the existence of antibodies in citizens who have taken shots, we also need to know the impact of vaccines in people who suffer from co-morbidity factors,” Banerjee said.
The source of the KMC Health Service said the Civic Agency had a list of ready residents who suffered the co-morbidity factors from the survey conducted last September.
The Civic team had later surveyed 7.5 lakh households throughout the city and found 1 lakh people had some kind of morbidity factor.

A KMC official said the Chairman of the Board of Administrator (BoA) Firhad Judge and Commissioner of Binod Kumar had held several meetings with the SIP Health Department to ensure the logistics support needed for the survey.
“It is a good step and will help measure the right immune status of a vaccinated population in front of the third wave.
Most of them will have antibodies because vaccination has gained momentum in the past three months.
Therefore, they must be relatively safe,” said the expert Other microbiology.
