Kolkata: The Ministry of Electricity Kolkata Municipal Corporation will begin to take unauthorized cable hanged in the pole in all cities, Mayor Firhad Judge told multi-system operators, internet service providers and local cable operators on Thursday.

“From Monday, we will start removing the cable that is not used.

He also asked MSO, ISP and cable operators to submit a proposal about how they wanted to take the cable and whether they wanted to use a pole so that the Civic body would tell them about the procedure to follow.
According to Sandip Ranjan Bakshi, MMIC, which oversees the KMC lighting department, the service provider must submit a detailed plan to clean up the chaos.
“I have asked the operator to submit a detailed plan to our executive engineers in their respective regions about the number of poles that they currently use or plan to use.
After that, we will wait for a week and start snapping the line,” Bakshi said.
The judge has urged service providers to remove cables that were not used from posting street lights for several years now.
“In 10 days, we must be able to shift all cables between the SSKM Hospital and the fire station of the Kecanjee API along Jalan Harish Mukherjee to the underground channel.
We also started working by marking the direct cable between Shyambazar and Tollygunge Phanri along Bhupen Bose Avenue , Central Avenue, Jl Nehru Road, Ashutosh Mukherjee Road and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Road.
