Kolkata: On Christmas Eve, the head of the North Indian Church and the Roman Catholic Church sent a message to young people, asking them to return to church where the trial concept began in the Christian world.
Both Bishop Paritosh Canning, CNI’s head in Kolkata Diocese, and Archbishop Thomas D Souza, Head of the Roman Catholic Church in the Archdiocese, said there were too many disturbances to distance young people from church services and all-round efforts were made to encourage them to return to the church place and engage in parish social activities.
Young brigades need to visit churches and parish priests to be able to assign contact with depressed, if any.
Pandemics have increased the gap and because, for a long time, people are accustomed to attending church services virtually, an inertia has been set, the church said.
“We need to destroy this inertia which is almost like a daydream and we withdraw all stops to bring young people back to the church.
I have notified all the churches to start sports activities in place to return.
We have set up badminton fields in the Cathedral of St.
Paul and Church of St James.
The response is encouraging.
I will also start a football tournament and cricket involving the parish.
This will automatically bring the young man back, “said Canning Bishop.
Archbishop D Souza felt social media was the main distractor of young people.
He said the ravine caused by a pandemic had brought young people closer to social media.
“Too much attention to material profits and comfort.
This makes young people tired and depressed.
The church provides the soul heaven they need because only through spiritual relations with the divine that young people can overcome depression.
Pandemics have taught us that we cannot live alone and Requires hand-holding at each level.
We need to wake this realization in youth and I will do this with the help of parish priests, “the Archbishop said.
