Kolkata: Commerce will again faced transportation services after six months, after the state government minus the metro and local train dwellings by 50%, as part of fresh steps to fight the third wave.
Metro reduces 30 minutes from Monday and will run 270 services instead of 276.
The last train from Dakshineswar is now departing at 8.48 a night and from Kavi Subhas and Dum Dum at 9:30.
To check footsteps, Metro Railway will stop issuing tokens too.
Since this single travel ticket was reintroduced from November 26, Metro passengers along the North-South corridor soared from less than 3 lakh to 4.5 lakh.
“Metro trains for a while will suspend the publication of a token to operate with a capacity of 50%,” a spokesman said.
Only smart cards will be issued.
On November 28, the Kavi Subhas-Dakshineswar corridor recorded 3.57,764 passenger daily.
On Christmas Eve it reached a 4.5 lakh milestone.
Last Monday, the utility crossed the 4 lakh mark along the north-south line.
Tokens, for RS 5 for travel 2 km shortest, pushing more people to take the metro.
“Multiple-travel smartcard, at a cost of Rs 120 all night can block irregular commuters and will reduce passengers,” said an official.
Limits have also been clamped on the suburban train.
The last local will now leave the origin point at 7pm, with a capacity of 50% seating.
Remote trains will operate as usual.
Intra-city and intercity bus services will continue with a time limit of 10pm.
“Because government and private offices will function with 50% staff, we ask the bus operator to limit capacity,” said a transportation official.
“To avoid density, the operator can run as many buses as possible.
Undertaking the state transportation will run the full fleet.
But there is no bus after 9pm from the origin,” said a WBTC officer.
Autos cannot run beyond 10:00, except that facilitates remote train passengers.
The cabin operator must bring the relevant documents to teach passengers to and from the airport, stations or emergency requirements, said an official.
