Kol: N-S Metro to start operating at 7am from Monday

Kolkata: Metro will advance the time with half an hour from Monday to serve school and college students, General Manager of the Metro Train Manoj Joshi told the first meeting of the Metro Railway User Consultation Committee (MRUCC) on Tuesday.
From Monday, said Joshi, the first train in Kavi Subhas-Dakshineswar corridor will leave the terminal station at 7am instead of 7.30 in the morning because the educational institution will reopen their campus since the following day.
Toi has reported on November 5 that the operator tends to start operations at 7 in the morning instead of 7.30 in the morning along the North-South corridor.
Joshi then said, “We do not add to the number of trains yet since the peak of the morning and night – our services have been at a maximum frequency of 5 minutes.
But we can start half an hour in the morning for the benefit of students.” Metro now operates from 7:30 a.m.
until 10:30 a.m.
, with 266 trains, against the Pre-Covid 288 fleet service.
Maintaining MRUCC meeting on Tuesday, Joshi said the token would return as soon as the Covid case was significantly reduced.
The new Metro Metro Committee has nine members, including the Minister of Sabha Mp Mala Roy, Sabha Mp, Rajya Sabha MP Rupa Ganguly and two Senior Bengal officials.
GM, who is the chairman of Mrucc, responded to the question by Shankar Das, a member of the railroad council, why only smart cards are allowed to take the Metro train.
GM explained that Tokens will increase the risk of Coronavirus transmission.
Metro had previously announced a re-issuance of tokens from March 15, but delayed his decision as Covid Count Bengal daily rose to 700-plus.
“We will check the feasibility of suggestions provided by each MRUCC member and explain if they are found cannot be applied,” said Ghosh Protyush, Deputy General Manager, Metro Railway.
He and other senior officers attended Tuesday’s meeting.
Joshi gave a direction to members of the various initiatives and progress of the ongoing Metro extension project.
MP Ganguly calls for keeping areas outside the metro station clean.
He also urged the authorities to facilitate the minimum counseling and commission projects in the earliest corridors.
Das ask whether the escalator can be installed between the second and third platforms of the Park Street metro station.
