Kolkata: East Metropolitan Bypass appears as a zone of a new problem for the police with a surge in drinking drinks on weekends.
The number of cases like that almost doubled last week.
Traffic police demanded 61 riders throughout the city for driving on Friday and Saturday while the number was established on 33 weeks ago.
Of the 61 prosecutions, 23 reported from the stretch of 17km bypass.
While the daily average passed 30 this weekend, the cases of driving beverages on average on weekdays floated between 13 to 15.
Hiland Park stretching on bypass only saw 10 prosecutions while Chingrighata Crossing saw three more and Hudco Crossing saw a few more Saturday night.
Even four case driving drinks were reported from Tagore Park and the main street of Anandapur (near Urbana) on the same night.
The Girish Park Crossing and The Park Street-Camac Street Crossing reported five prosecutions on Friday.
There were nine prosecutions at Sovabazar Crossing and Park Street Loudon Street crossing on Saturday.
“Some pubs have appeared along the bypass, which is well connected with both Paragas, making it a party zone.
The results are seen in the number of prosecutions for driving,” said an officer Lalbazar.
DC (Traffic) Arijit Sinha said, “We did a nightstand on 25 points in the city with the help of local police between 9pm and 10:30.
