KOLKATA: A group of spirits fraudsters — all pupils and belonging to low-income households in Kolkata — have been broken for allegedly duping online spirits vendors with imitation digital payment records and purchasing big amount of expensive foreign spirits without paying for them.
The episode came to light after a complaint lodged by the owner of a Waterloo Street bar-cum-restaurant in New Town police station.
According to the complaint, an individual named Rahul Agarwal had contacted them Instagram and put an internet doorstep shipping arrangement of liquor worth 44,800 on May 22.
He’d requested to supply the order in a New Town speech.
“The client and his two buddies took the shipping on street near Eco Park as well as revealed the delivery employees a bogus”effective payment” reception on an electronic gateway.
