Kolhapur Airport can now operate with low visibility

Kolhapur: Kolhapur Airport, also known as Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Airport, has received an enhanced license to the IFR category, where flights can land and take off even in low visibility conditions.
Previously, airport licenses were only allowed for flight operations during the day.
Director of Kolhapur Airport Kamal Kumar Kumar Kataria said, “The initial license of the Kolhapur Airport was up to December 14.
While submitting an update, we also sent a proposal to upgrade.
Thus, the license has now been upgraded to the ‘IFR’ ‘3C’ category.” Cathedaria said with a license Enhanced, flights can land and take off from the airport with the help of instruments even if the visibility is only more than 3,000 meters.
Previously, with the ‘Visual flight rules’ license VRF, flights can take off and land only if there is a clear visibility of more than 5,000 meters.
“Because of this, many flights are used to be postponed or canceled, causing discomfort for air passengers,” officials said.
Close watch will be saved for flight operations that occur to find out if there is a problem.
If there is a problem, then it will be deleted and if not, the night landing process will be shorter.
“Flights can land and take off now in the morning and in the dusk period.
Increased license to IFR is an important development for Kolhapur Airport, which is in the process of immediately getting a night landing permit,” Kataria said.
Satej Patil District Guard Minister, “We strive for fast airport development.
Important factors in the night landing procedure have been completed.
Our efforts to start a new flight route from Kolhapur also lights up.”
